DRCNH News - Alert DHHS proposes.... |
| ALERT: The Department of Health and Human Services has submitted proposed changes to Medicaid Service Limits, Non-Covered Services and Co-payments which are substantial. If these changes are approved, not only will more medical supplies and services become “non covered” items (such as disposable diapers for those over 21), but the definition of “medically necessary” will be left to the judgment of the Department rather than your treating doctor. It is critical that these changes NOT be permitted to become law. The first public hearing is scheduled for November 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 211 of the Brown Building located on Pleasant Street in Concord. The Department will accept written comments up until November 27, 2006. It is imperative that your voice be heard! Please consider attending the public hearing and speaking out. Tell everyone you know as well. More, including a pdf of the propopsed changes: http://www.drcnh.org/legislativeupdates.htm

Dana Reeve |
| We here at New Hampshire Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association are deeply saddened by the death of Dana Reeve. She was truly the embodiment of grace under the most difficult of circumstances. Her hard work and dedication established, among so many other things, the Christopher Reeve Foundation’s Quality of Life grants program and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center. Her dedication, not only to her family, but to all those with spinal cord injury should inspire us all to do more for the community in which we reside and realize that one person can make a dramatic difference in the lives of those around them. The board of directors and staff at NH NSCIA hope we can live up to her memory through our programs. Our deepest and sincerest condolences go our to the Reeve and Morosini families. |

Christopher Reeves |
| The New Hampshire Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association is
deeply saddened by the loss of Christopher Reeve. Our condolences go out to his family and friends in this difficult time.
Although it's possible to live a full and happy life with a SCI, we hope
this will be an example of the dangers of secondary conditions of paralysis
from which Christopher Reeve died.
The NH NSCIA has no official position on stem cell research. However, we
believe Mr. Reeve's work vastly enhanced the lives and independence of those
with SCI through improvements in research and by raising awareness thus
solidifying Christopher Reeve's place in the community as a truly super man. |

| From the WAPD....
Thank's, in part, to the Huge volume of reader email's that attracted the immediate attention of Macy's officials, the problem is solved and Ms. Wheelchair America, Cinda Hughes, WILL BE involved as a celebrity at the annual parade. Macy's has an excellent history of supporting disability related causes throughout the U.S.A.
The Executive Producer of Macy's parade did everything she could do to assure that Cinda would be highlighted at the parade this year. He and other executives made many calls to WAPD to assure the disAbilities world that Macy's is serious about their historical commitments.
WAPD salutes Macy's and looks forward to working with them in the future. |
